Residents of the United Arab Emirates are preparing for one of the most anticipated holidays of 2026 as early predictions indicate a long break for Eid al-Adha, encouraging travel planning and family gatherings across the country.
Eid Al Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the devotion of Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God, a story deeply respected across the Muslim world.

Astronomical forecasts suggest the holiday will begin with Arafat Day on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, followed by Eid Al Adha celebrations from May 27 to May 29 across the UAE.
If these dates align with the weekend, residents could enjoy a six-day break, making the holiday one of the longest public breaks in the country’s annual calendar.
Authorities note that the final confirmation of dates will depend on the traditional moon sighting process, which officially determines the start of major Islamic occasions.
Looking ahead, the UAE will also observe other key holidays in 2026, including Islamic New Year expected on June 17 and UAE National Day celebrated on December 2 and 3.
