The demonstrations are part of a growing grassroots movement known as “No Kings,” which has emerged as one of the most visible protest networks challenging President Donald Trump since the start of his second term in January 2025. Organizers say the movement opposes what they view as authoritarian tendencies and policies that weaken democratic institutions.
Protests also spread far beyond the United States, as demonstrators marched in several European cities including Rome, Madrid and Amsterdam. Americans living abroad joined local activists and communities in rallies that highlighted global concerns about the escalating war and its potential consequences.
In addition, solidarity protests took place in France, Portugal, Germany, Italy and Greece, showing the international reach of the anti-war movement. Meanwhile, a separate but massive demonstration against far-right politics also took place in the United Kingdom, reflecting broader political tensions across Europe.
