Social media users expressed shock at the apparent lack of seriousness during the surgical procedures, raising concerns over patient safety and medical ethics. The video has intensified public scrutiny of hospital practices and professional conduct among medical staff.
In response, the Punjab government issued notices to the hospital administration, seeking explanations from Medical Superintendent Dr Farah Inam and Head of the Gynaecology Department Professor Dr Uzma Hussain, requiring replies within three days. The Department of Specialised Healthcare also suspended the postgraduate training of four doctors — Dr Tayyaba Fatima Toor, Dr Maham Amin, Dr Zainab Tahir, and Dr Ayesha Afzal — pending an investigation.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique condemned the alleged actions, calling them a breach of medical ethics, an insult to patient dignity, and a violation of professional standards. Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood confirmed that disciplinary proceedings would be initiated if satisfactory explanations were not provided within the stipulated timeframe.
Officials emphasized that such conduct is strictly prohibited under government regulations and the hospital’s standard operating procedures, describing the incident as a serious example of negligence in the discharge of official duties. The case has sparked debates about the accountability of medical professionals and the importance of maintaining ethical standards in healthcare settings.
