Published on: March 17, 2026 7:18 AM

The funeral prayer of Punjab Police’s martyred constable Asad Naseer was offered with full state honours at Police Lines in Layyah.

According to the police spokesperson, the coffin of the martyr, draped in the national flag, was presented with a salute by a smartly turned-out police contingent. A large number of senior officials and citizens attended the funeral prayer to pay their respects.

Among those present were Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Azhar Akram, District Police Officer (DPO) Layyah Hasan Javed Bhatti, District and Sessions Judge Ali Nawaz Khan, Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali, police officials, media representatives, lawyers, political and social personalities, as well as a large number of local residents.

The RPO and other officials laid floral wreaths on the coffin of the martyr and offered prayers for the elevation of his ranks.

RPO Muhammad Azhar Akram also met the bereaved family and expressed heartfelt condolences. He paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the martyred constable and assured the family of full support and welfare from the police department.

He further stated that all possible steps would be taken on a priority basis for the welfare of the martyr’s family and that those responsible for the incident would soon be brought to justice.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Layyah Hasan Javed Bhatti said that the blood of the martyr would not go in vain.

It is worth mentioning that Constable Asad Naseer was shot by unidentified assailants during mosque security duty at Hira Adda in the Lalazar area, within the jurisdiction of Saddar Layyah Police Station. The attackers managed to flee after committing the crime.

The martyred constable was soon to be married, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for his family and colleagues.
