The Islamabad High Court ordered the formation of a new medical board to conduct a fresh and detailed examination of PTI founder Imran Khan while hearing a petition regarding his transfer to a private hospital. The court directed the relevant authorities to arrange a comprehensive medical assessment that would determine his current health condition and decide whether he requires treatment outside the jail facility.
During the hearing, the bench instructed the concerned chairman to immediately constitute a new medical board that would carefully review Khan’s medical condition and provide a formal report. The board will evaluate whether shifting him to a hospital outside the prison is medically necessary and recommend the appropriate course of treatment after completing a detailed check-up.

However, the court rejected the request for Khan’s immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital, emphasizing that a fresh medical examination must be conducted first. Judges explained that the medical board should complete its evaluation before any decision about transferring the former prime minister to another hospital could be made.
The bench also raised concerns over the absence of a formal medical report during the proceedings and questioned why authorities had only submitted a statement from the prison superintendent. The judges stressed that the court could not rely solely on verbal claims and required a documented medical assessment before making any decision regarding hospital transfer.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad advocate general informed the court that Khan’s health condition remained satisfactory and that he was already receiving appropriate medical treatment inside jail. Nevertheless, the bench observed that a brief visit to a specialized hospital for testing could help clarify his medical condition more accurately and resolve concerns raised by the petition.
During the arguments, PTI lawyers cited previous cases involving medical access for prisoners and urged the court to allow personal doctors to examine the party founder. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court disposed of the petition with directions to conduct a fresh medical examination, while authorities were also reminded that they would bear responsibility if Khan’s health condition deteriorates.
