Memon accuses federal minister of conspiring against Sindh govtSindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the unfortunate incident that took place in Kohat is highly condemnable, no matter how much it is condemned, our youth are fighting bravely against terrorists and are making sacrifices for the peace of the country. Important and people-friendly decisions were taken in the Sindh cabinet meeting the other day. The Sindh Electric Regulatory Authority has been established so that the province can become independent in the energy sector.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government wants to stand on its own feet and is taking practical steps to make the province economically stable. It has been decided to provide facilities to women associated with the agricultural sector. Regular data of women farmers across Sindh is being compiled so that they can be provided with facilities effectively. The government aims to introduce new projects for women farmers.

He said that the Sindh government has also taken important decisions for the business community to promote commercial activities, traders are being provided with all online facilities within ten days to facilitate business processes.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that a railway line is being laid up to Tharparkar to improve travel and trade links, the Sindh government has invested one billion dollars in the Thar Coal project to strengthen the energy sector.

He said that some elements deliberately and unnecessarily criticize Karachi, it is easy to criticize and the ground realities are different from this, Karachi has its own problems, but this city is the backbone of the country’s economy, Karachi is bearing the burden of people coming from all over the country every day, thousands of people enter Karachi from all over the country every day and seek employment opportunities, people from all over the country also head to Karachi to get better health facilities, the city remains under discussion due to the head offices of media houses being here, despite major challenges and pressures, Karachi has remained the center of the country’s economy and the axis of development, despite all these facts, the government is facing various challenges but serious steps are being taken to deal with them.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the biggest challenge facing Pakistan is the energy crisis, the cheapest electricity is being generated from Sindh coal, the government has spent billions of dollars on coal projects and provided electricity to the national grid, the electricity generated from coal is being provided to the whole of Pakistan, it is being included in the national grid.

He said that the government has invested more than eight billion dollars on coal projects. Coal has emerged as an important and effective source in the energy sector.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Bhutto Highway project is in the final stages of completion, its formal inauguration is expected in the first or second week of April, the money collected under the infrastructure cess is being deposited in the Supreme Court, the funds received under this section are not being received by the Sindh government, the government has formed a committee under the leadership of Mukesh Chawla to resolve this issue.

He said that about fifty percent of the patients in Karachi’s hospitals come from outside the city, they cost millions of rupees which are being paid by the Sindh government, liver transplant facility is available in Gambat whereas in the past people used to go to India for treatment?

He told that Sindh Police has killed 28 dacoits and 187 dacoits surrendered in two months, the police has taken effective and vigorous action against criminal elements in Katcha area.

In response to a question, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the news circulating about the alleged meeting of President Asif Ali Zardari has nothing to do with reality and it is just an attempt to spread sensation. “There was nothing like that in the meeting that is being mentioned. President Asif Ali Zardari is our elder and can also scold us. Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Mrs. Faryal Talpur are taking regular briefings and we are all fulfilling our responsibilities.”

He said that “we have faced serious difficulties in the matter of the Red Line project, but the government is taking serious steps to resolve the problems. All the ministers, mayors, deputy mayors are working”.

In response to another question, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that snorkels and drones are being purchased and the rescue system is being brought under one system so that fire incidents can be dealt with better.

In response to another question, he said that development work is going on in Karachi, other cities are compared to Karachi, there is a huge difference in the population of Karachi and other cities, Lahore has access to underground water, Karachi does not, this is the biggest problem of Karachi, the traffic system and infrastructure are affected due to water tankers. Karachi’s population can be compared to a country, not a city, the team is working, the Chief Minister is visiting and understanding the challenges, the Sindh government is focused and the problems of the city will be resolved soon.

In response to another question, he said that the federal government always seeks cooperation from the PPP, their representatives in Sindh are conspiring against the Sindh government, we demanded from our leadership to seek clarification from the federal government on this issue.
