Turkey pledges continued support for Gaza

Published on: February 19, 2026 11:45 PM

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is committed to stabilizing Gaza and supporting its recovery, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said. The announcement comes amid ongoing humanitarian challenges and sporadic ceasefire violations. Türkiye’s efforts affect Gaza residents and international peace initiatives.

Fidan spoke at the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington, chaired by US President Donald Trump. He praised Trump’s personal engagement, saying it helped achieve a ceasefire after two years of human suffering. He emphasized that despite progress, the region remains fragile.

According to Fidan, Türkiye provides substantial humanitarian aid to Gaza and stands ready to support health, education, and police sector rehabilitation. He said Turkish assistance could strengthen local infrastructure and improve living conditions. Additional contributions could include trained personnel and logistical support.

Fidan also indicated Türkiye could deploy troops to the proposed International Stabilization Force. He reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to a two-state solution and encouraged coordinated international efforts. He described a just and lasting peace as the ultimate goal for the region.

The Turkish government continues to monitor Gaza’s security situation closely. Fidan stressed the importance of prompt, coordinated, and effective international responses to protect civilians and uphold the ceasefire. Ongoing support is critical to prevent further humanitarian deterioration.
