Lanjar directs foolproof Ramazan security, smooth flow of traffic

Published on: February 19, 2026 1:00 AM

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar has issued directives to ensure foolproof security and coordinated traffic management across the province during all three Ashras of Ramadan 2026. He made it clear that during the blessed month of Ramadan, the protection of life and property of citizens remains the government’s top priority, and any negligence or lapse in this regard will not be tolerated.

The Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar directed that special monitoring be ensured at mosques, imambargahs, shrines, and gatherings for Taraweeh prayers. Additional personnel are to be deployed at sensitive locations during Iftar and Sehri timings. He further instructed that an effective and comprehensive security plan be devised and strictly implemented for major commercial centers, markets, and shopping malls.

He ordered further acceleration of snap-checking, mobile patrolling, and intelligence-based operations, and emphasized effective monitoring of CCTV cameras under the Command and Control System. Special attention is to be given to the installation of walk-through gates and comprehensive search mechanisms around mosques and religious gatherings.

The Sindh Home Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening coordination with religious scholars and leaders to promote sectarian harmony and maintain law and order. He directed that effective coordination be maintained between local police and volunteers to ensure security at Iftar points and community dastarkhwans. Additionally, he instructed that special patrols and help desks be established to facilitate and protect women and families, while emergency response units and ambulance services remain on high alert at all times.

Regarding traffic management, the Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar stated that, in view of increased crowds in markets and business centers, strict implementation of a comprehensive traffic plan must be ensured. Additional traffic police personnel are to be deployed on key roads before and after Iftar. Alternative parking arrangements should be organized, and indiscriminate action must be taken against illegal parking.

Citizens should be informed in advance through traffic advisories to prevent inconvenience. He underscored that coordinated and effective security and traffic arrangements must be ensured through close collaboration among the police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies so that a peaceful environment prevails across the province during Ramadan, enabling citizens to perform their religious obligations with comfort and peace of mind.
