Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing and Town Planning, Nasir Hussain Shah, said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) there is perhaps the only provincial government in the world that blocks roads and highways, creating difficulties and hardships for its own people. He stated that medical treatment is the right of the founder of PTI, and whenever doctors deemed it necessary, he was taken to the hospital.
He expressed these views while speaking to the media at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a private charitable hospital in Sukkur.
Referring to President Asif Ali Zardari, he said that Zardari spent 14 years in prison and there is hardly any jail in the country where he was not kept. During his imprisonment, he was also subjected to torture. He added that the current situation is a short spell, whereas President Zardari endured a long and difficult imprisonment.
Responding to a journalist’s question about whether Imran Khan would strike a deal and leave the country, he said, “Anything is possible here.”
Nasir Shah further said that in Sindh, no one is allowed to enter the Red Zone or block major highways for protests. Since the media reports everything, protests should be held at the press club. He added that due to PTI’s protests in KP, the entire province has come to a standstill, causing severe difficulties for the public and the business community. The provincial government should understand that problems cannot be solved by causing hardship to the people.
He said that healthcare facilities in Sindh are visible to everyone. On the instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, two major hospitals are also being constructed in Punjab, while there are plans to build hospitals in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well. People from across Pakistan come to Sindh for medical treatment, and serving them is a duty for all of us.
Separately, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a new hospital to be constructed by the Modern Health and Education Foundation in Sukkur.
Speaking at the ceremony, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the establishment of the Modern Hospital by the foundation, with a spirit of public service, is a commendable initiative and assured full support for its completion. He highlighted that the Sindh government is actively working to provide free and quality healthcare services across the province in various specialties, including heart, liver, and kidney treatments. He added that patients not only from Sindh but also from Balochistan and Punjab travel to Sindh for quality medical care.
The minister further stated that, on the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government is expanding its healthcare services beyond provincial boundaries, with two major SIUT and NICVD hospitals being established in Punjab.
CEO of Modern Hospital, Shahid Mehmood, informed that the 100 bed state-of-the-art hospital in Sukkur is planned to be completed within two years, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 billion for construction and Rs. 800 million for medical equipment. He said the hospital will provide modern, safe, and affordable healthcare services to the middle class, with high quality treatment at low cost for those who can pay, and completely free services for deserving patients without requiring any Zakat form submission.
He added that the Modern Health and Education Foundation already operates a network of 7 hospitals and 14 clinics across Sindh, providing medical care to thousands of patients.
Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan and other speakers also addressed the ceremony, appreciating the initiative. Later, Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah answered questions from media representatives on various political and public interest matters.
