Asim Munir highlights security vision at Munich conference

Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir attended the 62nd Munich Security Conference in Germany, marking a key diplomatic and strategic engagement for Pakistan. The visit reflects Pakistan’s active participation in high-level global discussions focused on emerging security challenges and collective responses.

According to official details, Field Marshal Asim Munir is on a three-day visit, during which he engaged with senior political and defence leaders. These interactions emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to constructive dialogue on regional stability, counter-terrorism cooperation, and evolving international security dynamics. The conference provided a vital platform for exchanging strategic perspectives.

During the visit, the Field Marshal held a significant meeting with Marco Rubio, where both sides discussed regional security concerns and cooperation against terrorism. The dialogue highlighted shared interests in promoting stability and addressing cross-border threats through coordinated international efforts. Officials described the exchange as forward-looking and productive.

Additionally, Asim Munir met with Germany’s interior minister, foreign affairs adviser, and chief of defence to discuss bilateral defence cooperation. Both sides stressed dialogue as a tool for conflict prevention.

Furthermore, discussions at the conference addressed broader global and regional security trends, including geopolitical shifts and non-traditional threats. The interactions underscored Pakistan’s readiness to contribute to global peace initiatives. Through active diplomacy and defence engagement, the visit reinforced Pakistan’s role as a responsible stakeholder in international security affairs.
