Meta-owned WhatsApp has finally rolled out native voice and video calling on WhatsApp Web, bridging the feature gap between its web, mobile, and desktop platforms for seamless communication.
The update introduces dedicated phone and camera icons within individual chats, allowing users to make calls directly from their browser without unlocking their phones or switching devices, improving convenience significantly.
During beta testing, the new calling feature was confirmed to work smoothly, and although it is being gradually released, users can now enjoy secure calls protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption.

Key features include screen sharing during video calls, separate floating call windows for incoming calls, and seamless integration within the web interface, enabling users to multitask without interrupting their ongoing work or chats.
This upgrade is particularly beneficial for Chromebook and Linux users, who previously had limited access to calling functionality, allowing them to communicate fully from their web browsers without installing extra apps.
By bringing browser-based calling, WhatsApp Web now provides a comprehensive communication solution, combining messaging, voice, video, and collaborative tools, positioning itself as a complete platform for personal and professional use.
