Romanian athletes won, on Friday, two gold medals and two silver medals at the European Ice Swimming Championships in Molveno, Italy.
Vladimir Romaniuc won gold in the 100 m breaststroke, clocking 1 min 09 sec 98/100, followed by Russia’s Aleksei Zharkov (1:10.69) and Italy’s Andrea Zenatti (1:13.44).
Ioana Gadea won the gold medal in the 50 m butterfly, timed at 30 sec 40/100, while Maria Moscaliuc took silver, in 32 sec 17/100. The podium was completed by Russia’s Mariia Shelaeva (32.64). Another silver medal was won in the 50 m mixed relay medley by Ioana Gadea, Alexandru Gaman, Adrian Nae and Maria Moscaliuc, with a time of 2 min 03 sec 56/100. The gold medals went to a relay made up of neutral individual athletes, with a new world record (2:02.40). Romania’s medal tally after three days of competition stands at 14 medals, including 6 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze. Romania is taking part in the competition with a team made up of 12 elite swimmers and 14 swimmers in the masters category.
