T20 rankings: Saim Ayub shines, Babar Azam slips

The ICC has released the latest T20 player rankings ahead of the World Cup. Pakistan’s Saim Ayub has once again claimed the No. 1 T20 all-rounder spot, while Sikandar Raza dropped to second place. Mohammad Nawaz rose one spot to fourth, and Shadab Khan jumped 13 places to 26th.

In the batters’ rankings, India’s Abhishek Sharma leads, followed by England’s Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, who climbed one place to third. Among Pakistani players, opener Sahibzada Farhan fell two spots to seventh, Saim Ayub rose eight places to 28th, and T20 captain Salman Ali Agha jumped 12 spots to 29th. Former captain Babar Azam slipped three places to 34th, while World Cup squad member Fakhar Zaman dropped five places to 74th.

For bowlers, India’s Varun Chakaravarthy tops the list. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed climbed two spots to second, pushing Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to third. Mohammad Nawaz improved eight positions to seventh, Shaheen Afridi rose five places to 19th, and Shadab Khan soared 33 spots to 72nd, showcasing Pakistan’s depth in bowling talent.

These rankings underline Pakistan’s growing strength in all-rounders and bowlers ahead of the T20 World Cup. Players like Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed are leading the charge, while some established stars like Babar Azam face challenges, highlighting a shift in team dynamics.

The ICC rankings will be closely watched as teams finalize their strategies for the T20 World Cup. Pakistan will aim to leverage its rising stars and experienced players for a strong campaign.
