Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a strategic cargo partnership with Air France–KLM to expand its global freight network. The agreement allows exporters to use a single air waybill for consignments across Europe and the United States. This move strengthens PIA’s international cargo connectivity amid major institutional reforms.
Effective January 15, PIA Cargo now links to Air France–KLM’s global network through regional hubs including Dubai, Riyadh, and Dammam. Key destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles are now accessible through the combined network.

French Ambassador Nicolas Galey highlighted that the partnership complements the resumption of direct Islamabad-Paris flights, operating twice weekly since January 10. He noted the pact provides seamless connections to 21 European destinations, boosting trade, economic, and cultural exchange.
The cargo agreement coincides with PIA’s privatisation, concluded in late January when the Arif Habib Consortium acquired a 75 percent stake. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called the process transparent and expressed confidence that the new ownership would enhance service quality and global connectivity.

Analysts say the partnership and expanded passenger links signal PIA’s renewed focus on trade facilitation and international operations. The collaboration with Air France–KLM positions the national carrier as a stronger player in global cargo and passenger markets.
