Pakistan Assumes Command of Combined Maritime Forces' Combined Task Force 150 – Combined Maritime Forces

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy has taken over command of Combined Task Force-150 (CTF-150) during a ceremony held at the Headquarters of Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) in Bahrain.

Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir assumed command from Commodore Fahad S. Al Joaid of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF). In a statement during the ceremony, Commodore Tahir assured that his team was fully prepared to carry forward the responsibilities of the prestigious role and contribute to maritime security and stability across the region.

He reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s commitment to counter illicit maritime activities while safeguarding vital sea lines of communication. “We are determined to ensure safe and secure navigation across the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Oman,” he said.

CTF-150 is one of five task forces operating under the CMF, with a mission to deter and disrupt non-state actors engaged in the trafficking of weapons, narcotics, and other illicit goods. The task force’s operations are critical to maintaining regional peace and maritime security.

The Pakistan Navy highlighted that successful anti-narcotics operations conducted during the RSNF’s tenure underscore collaborative efforts in combating transnational maritime crimes. These operations reflect Pakistan Navy’s continued dedication to regional safety and security.

The change of command ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain Saqib Rauf, Commander of CMF Vice Admiral Curt A. Renshaw, Commander of Royal Bahrain Naval Forces Rear Admiral Ahmed Mohamed Ebrahim Al Bin Ali, and representatives from several other navies operating under the CMF.

Commodore Tahir’s appointment marks another step in Pakistan Navy’s active engagement with multinational maritime initiatives, reinforcing its role in fostering cooperation, stability, and security across international waters.
