
LAHORE: The Punjab government has approved a Rs47 billion Ramazan Nigehban Package to support deserving families during the holy month, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced on Monday.

Under the package, 4.2 million families will receive Rs10,000 each. Over two million beneficiaries will be issued Nigehban Cards, which can be used to purchase essential commodities or withdraw cash through Bank of Punjab branchless banking agents and ATMs connected to the One-Link network.

To ensure smooth implementation, 136 card activation centres will be established across the province. A Ramazan Nigehban Dashboard will be set up for monitoring and verification. Ration card holders will also benefit from an increased assistance of Rs10,000 during Ramazan, up from the existing Rs3,000 monthly.
The CM directed authorities to make payments via the Nigehban Card simple and accessible, including free home delivery options. Associations of flour mills, poultry, grocery, and ghee mills will establish stalls at Sasta Ramazan and Sahulat Bazaars to provide affordable goods.
Eight ‘Nigehban Dastarkhwan – Maryam Kay Mehman’ will be set up in each tehsil, offering daily Iftar to up to 2,000 fasting people. Commissioners, deputy commissioners, and assistant commissioners will personally oversee these initiatives, with the Punjab Food Authority ensuring food quality.
In addition, 65 Sahulat Bazaars will operate in 30 districts, alongside permanent, mobile, and temporary Ramazan bazaars in other districts. A provincial monitoring room with 1,250 cameras will oversee pricing, cleanliness, and security.

The CM urged officials to take steps to further reduce prices and ensure no deserving family feels unsupported during Ramazan, while encouraging affluent citizens to assist those in need.
