Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said a comprehensive plan has been made for Basant, including strict monitoring and safety measures. She stated that all relevant departments are working to ensure the festival is celebrated safely. The plan aims to restore public enjoyment while preventing violence and chaos.
Speaking at a review meeting on Basant in Punjab, Maryam Nawaz said Lahore has a well-prepared traffic management plan for the festival. She emphasized that the people of Punjab will be able to enjoy their festivities safely in February. The Chief Minister highlighted that Basant has been celebrated for centuries to mark the arrival of spring.

Maryam Nawaz announced strict punishments for violations, including kite and string size limits. During Basant, the use of “Charkhi” (spinning reels) will be prohibited. Violators using unsafe strings may face five years in prison and fines. Entry of motorcycles into red zones without safety rods will not be allowed.
The Chief Minister assured that Basant will be celebrated safely and in an organized manner. Free transportation will be provided on 24 routes, with 500 buses and rickshaws operating for public convenience. Two control rooms will be established to manage festival operations effectively.

Emergency services, including “Clinic on Wheels,” ambulances, and fire brigades, will remain active throughout the festival. Maryam Nawaz said the event has been designed to ensure both safety and enjoyment, allowing the people of Punjab to celebrate the arrival of spring joyfully.
