The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday forecast cloudy weather and chances of rain in Karachi, warning that a cold spell is expected to grip the city and other parts of Sindh over the next few days.

In its three-day weather outlook issued on January 22, the PMD said a westerly wave was likely to affect the province, bringing dust-thunderstorms and light to moderate rain to the Karachi division. The expected rainfall is likely to result in a noticeable dip in temperatures across the metropolis.
According to the forecast, temperatures in Karachi on Thursday are expected to range between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius during the day, while the minimum could drop to around 13.5°C. Humidity levels are predicted to decline from about 84 per cent in the morning to between 50 and 60 per cent by evening, accompanied by west to northwesterly winds.
The PMD said temperatures are expected to fall further over the next two days. On Friday and Saturday, maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 20 and 22°C, while minimum temperatures could drop sharply to between 7 and 9°C. Dry weather and cold nights are forecast to prevail during this period.
Humidity levels on Friday and Saturday are expected to be lower than Thursday. Morning humidity is forecast at 40–50 per cent on Friday and 45–55 per cent on Saturday, falling to as low as 15–25 per cent in the evenings. Winds are expected to blow from the north or northwest on Friday, shifting to east or northeast on Saturday.
Besides Karachi, the PMD said rain is also expected in several districts of Sindh, including Jamshoro, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Tharparkar, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Naushoreferoz, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Larkana, Kambar Shahdadkot and Shikarpur.

Earlier, the PMD warned that rain and heavy snowfall could affect all provinces and northern regions on January 22 and 23, prompting the National Disaster Management Authority to issue an alert and urge citizens to take precautionary measures.
