Saudi Arabia’s cabinet, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, has approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan in the electricity sector. The deal aims to strengthen cooperation on power generation, transmission, and electrical interconnection. Officials said the move builds on the Economic Cooperation Framework signed last October, enhancing trade and investment ties.
The MoU emphasizes long-term collaboration in energy and infrastructure, viewed as a key pillar for sustainable development. Both countries seek to expand regional connectivity and support economic growth through shared projects. Saudi officials described electricity cooperation as vital to future bilateral relations.

During the cabinet meeting, ministers reviewed regional and international developments, focusing on Gaza. They welcomed the second phase of the Gaza peace plan and stressed that the Palestinian Authority should resume responsibilities in the territory. They also called for continued humanitarian aid and lasting peace.
Saudi Arabia expressed support for other international initiatives, including the Board of Peace announced by Donald Trump. The cabinet praised the ceasefire agreement in Syria, describing it as a positive step for regional stability. King Salman chaired the meeting shortly after a medical check-up, signaling continuity in governance.

Separately, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed sorrow over the Karachi Gul Plaza fire, which killed 27 people. The ministry extended condolences to the victims’ families and prayers for the injured, reaffirming solidarity with Pakistan during the tragedy.
