The selection trials for the Lahore Division Women’s Mas Wrestling team concluded successfully today at the Elite Training Center, Nishtar Park Sports Complex, as part of the ongoing Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026. The event marked another milestone in the province’s efforts to promote women’s participation in diverse sports disciplines.
Organized by Aqeel Javed Butt, President of the Lahore Division Mas Wrestling Association with collaboration of Punjab Sports Board and supervised by Tariq Khanzada, Divisional Sports Officer (DSO) Lahore, the trials witnessed spirited competition and showcased the growing enthusiasm for Mas Wrestling among young female athletes.
A total of 25 athletes from Lahore, Kasur, and Sheikhupura took part in the trials, demonstrating strength, skill, and determination. Following a rigorous evaluation process, eight athletes were selected to represent Lahore Division in the upcoming Pink Games. The matches were officiated by National Mas Wrestling Silver Medalist Abdullah Sohail Butt and Naila Maqsood Butt, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the proceedings according to international Mas Wrestling federation rules
Selected Squad: Sundas Taimoor 40 kg Category, Khadija Saeed 45 kg, Kashaf Altaf 55 kg, Aliza Jawad 60 kg, Ayesha Rasheed 65 kg ,Fiza Qadi 70kg , Rahat Shams Plus 70 kg, Sidra Riaz 81 kg.
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Javed Butt, Honorary Press Secretary of the Pakistan Mas Wrestling Federation, emphasized that the trials reflect the rising interest in Mas Wrestling among women in Punjab, a sport traditionally dominated by men. He noted that the Pink Games are providing a vital platform for female athletes to showcase their talent.
Tariq Khanzada, DSO Lahore, congratulated the selected athletes, praising their dedication and resilience. He urged them to train hard and bring glory to Lahore Division in the main event, which is being organized with the full support of the Punjab Sports Board.
