‘Zootopia 2’ breaks global box office records

Zootopia 2 has cemented its place in cinematic history, smashing box office records just weeks after its release. The Disney animated sequel, which premiered on November 26, 2025, has earned a staggering $1.7 billion globally, making it the highest-grossing animated Hollywood film of all time, surpassing Inside Out 2.

Only China’s Ne Zha 2 has earned more when adjusted for inflation, according to The Wrap. The film is also on the verge of overtaking Avengers: Endgame as China’s highest-grossing American release, demonstrating the sequel’s international appeal and cultural resonance.

In Zootopia 2, detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) investigate a mysterious reptile causing chaos in the mammal metropolis. The duo ventures into new and unexpected areas of Zootopia, testing their partnership and uncovering secrets that challenge their wits and teamwork.

Ahead of its premiere, the film released its final trailer alongside the original song Zoo, co-written and performed by Shakira and Ed Sheeran, who also make playful cameo appearances as sheep named Ed Shearin. The song debuted on October 10, 2025, with the full soundtrack releasing on November 21, 2025, adding further buzz to the movie’s global rollout.
