The 11th Hyderabad Literature Festival kicked off at Global Palace on Sunday, Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah inaugurated the literature festival. The festival started with a cultural performance by a cultural group and ribbon cutting. Famous Singer Anu Solangi recited Latif’s wai in his melodious voice.
The ancient instrument Bhurindo, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List tuned by Malhar Junejo, addition to these, many other segments also featured in the literature festival, including the launching of eight books and literary discussions.
Talking to media Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Archives Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said that Sindh is the land of saints which has 50000 years old civilization and all saints have disseminated message of peace. He said that such type of events should be organized in Balochistan and Kyber Pakhtunkhwa which are under the shadow of terrorism.
He said that Hyderabad Literature Festival is a remarkable event in which eminent intellectuals are invited to deliver their thought-provoking ideas with the audience.Organizer of the festival Izhar Soomro in his welcome address said that this year Hyderabad Literature festival was being celebrated under theme “Beauty in Diversity” featuring clourful segments including launching of 8 books and conferring six life time achievement awards to celebrities. He said that an exclusive launching of Farhatullah Babar’s book would also be held on second day of literature festival. Life time achievement awards were also given to six personalities including Broad caster Naseer Mirza, actress Sakina Samon, Singer Humera Channa, actress Samina Ahmed and journalist Wusat Ullah Khan on their outstanding performance.
