The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced that Pakistani SIMs will no longer be blocked during overseas travel. Expats can now retain full ownership of their SIMs, even during extended stays abroad. This decision aims to ensure uninterrupted mobile services for Pakistanis living or working outside the country.
Previously, Pakistani SIMs were often deactivated after prolonged inactivity, causing inconvenience for banking, verification codes, and family communication. The PTA’s new policy resolves these long-standing issues and allows overseas Pakistanis to remain digitally connected.

Expatriates can activate this facility by contacting their respective mobile service providers. The process ensures that phone numbers remain active and accessible throughout their time abroad. This move also supports continuous professional and emergency communications for Pakistanis overseas.
The PTA emphasized that uninterrupted SIM services are part of its broader effort to enhance digital inclusion and maintain connections between Pakistan and its citizens abroad. This step strengthens the country’s digital ecosystem globally.
