
The Sindh government has announced a holiday in all public and private educational institutions across the province on January 17 to mark the religious occasion of Shab-e-Meraj.
An official notification confirmed that schools, colleges, and other educational institutions will remain closed throughout Sindh, allowing students and staff to observe the holy night with religious devotion.

Meanwhile, provincial authorities have also revised school timings after a sharp fall in temperatures triggered a cold wave, raising concerns about student health and safety across several districts.
Following directives from Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah, the Education and Literacy Department issued updated timings to reduce early morning exposure during harsh winter conditions.

Officials said these steps aim to balance academic continuity with student welfare, adding that further adjustments could follow if cold weather intensifies in the coming weeks.
