Thousands of women and young children have gone missing across Punjab, including Lahore, over the past five years. On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, an order has been issued to recover the women and children. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has tasked all DPOs to search for children and women who have gone missing in the province over the past five years. Instructions have also been issued in this regard, according to which all SPs should hold meetings with the relevant investigation officers to find the missing children and women. The investigation officers should contact the relevant families and obtain photographs of the missing children and women. Information about the missing women and children will be obtained for investigation in the cases of lost persons. Moreover, all details of investigations previously carried out since their disappearance will be attached to the cases’ files, and publicity should also be made to find those missing and kidnapped children and women. To collect the data, the IG Office also sent a pro forma to the police officers to send the details of the missing and kidnapped children and women cases.
