LOS ANGELES: James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash has surpassed $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales, marking the director’s fourth film to cross the billion-dollar milestone. Walt Disney Studios reported the movie has grossed $1.03 billion globally since its release during the holiday season.

In North America, the film earned $306 million, while international markets contributed $777.1 million, highlighting the franchise’s global popularity. The original Avatar, released in 2009, set box office records with $2.9 billion in ticket sales worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in absolute dollars, although adjusted for inflation, it ranks behind the 1939 classic Gone With the Wind.
