KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has responded to a recent press conference by Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal, in which fresh allegations were levelled against the party’s founder.
Speaking to the media, Khalid Maqbool said MQM-Pakistan had already clarified its position on the party’s past and leadership nearly a decade ago. He recalled that on August 23, 2016, the party formally announced that all decisions would be taken within Pakistan and that it had completely severed ties with MQM-London.

He stressed that this stance remains unchanged and continues to define the party’s political direction. “This is our complete narrative, which covers all matters,” Khalid Maqbool said, adding that MQM-P had already addressed controversies linked to its earlier leadership.
His remarks came in reaction to Mustafa Kamal’s press conference, where the federal minister repeated serious accusations against the MQM founder. Kamal alleged that the founder was involved in the murder of senior party leader Dr Imran Farooq, who was stabbed to death outside his London home in September 2010.
Mustafa Kamal claimed the killing was treated as a “birthday gift” and alleged that scenes were staged around the body. He further alleged that large sums of money, including hundreds of thousands of pounds, were recovered and used in connection with events following Dr Farooq’s death.
The federal minister also accused the MQM founder of receiving funding from India’s intelligence agency, RAW, over several decades. He claimed this support enabled the founder to mobilise large crowds in Karachi during strikes and protests.

Additionally, Kamal alleged that the founder prioritised personal power over constitutional struggle and was responsible for widespread violence, enforced disappearances and instability in the city.
Khalid Maqbool, however, maintained that MQM-Pakistan’s current leadership and organisational structure should not be linked to past allegations. He reiterated that the party’s position since 2016 remains clear, final and unchanged.
