Pak-China textile trade sees significant growth

Published on: December 23, 2025 4:11 PM

Pakistan’s textile and apparel exports to China showed strong performance during January–November 2025, totaling approximately $488.5 million, supported by steady demand for cotton yarn and a gradual rise in value-added products. Moreover, analysts say this trend reflects both traditional strengths and emerging diversification in Pakistan’s textile sector.

Data from China’s General Administration of Customs revealed that two cotton yarn categories dominated exports, reaching $205.4 million and $181.1 million respectively, together accounting for nearly $386.5 million in the first eleven months. Additionally, the second half of the year saw consistent monthly growth, with July–November exports rising 8.69% year-on-year.

Beyond yarn, consumer-focused categories recorded notable gains, with women’s garments reaching $10.3 million (+18% YoY) and home textiles at $5.3 million (+27% YoY), while niche segments such as carpets and babies’ garments surged over 95%. Consequently, these emerging products signal opportunities for Pakistan to expand its market footprint.

Experts emphasize that moving forward, Pakistan must prioritize quality standards, sustainability compliance, and faster lead times to enhance competitiveness. Furthermore, technical upgrades in finishing, dyeing, and high-value knitwear could help the country climb the value chain in China’s growing retail and e-commerce markets.
