Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a policy to increase Pakistan’s halal meat exports. During a review meeting, he instructed officials to present a practical implementation plan within two weeks. The premier emphasized that Pakistan should capture a larger share of the Muslim countries and global halal meat market.
PM Shehbaz directed the development of a comprehensive three-year strategy for boosting production and exports. He stressed that coordination among federal ministries and provincial governments is essential for the plan’s success. The committee tasked with drafting the policy must propose actionable measures to improve the sector.

The premier highlighted the need for meeting international standards in halal meat production and livestock management. He also called for improvements in cold storage, processing facilities, and other critical infrastructure to ensure quality and efficiency.
He instructed the committee to focus on increasing regional production volumes through organized centres. These centres will aim to enhance both production capacity and nutritional value, ensuring competitiveness in the global halal market.
