
The Gilgit-Baltistan government has imposed a Deosai National Park ban on all commercial activities. Authorities stopped seasonal hotels and tourist businesses inside the park. Officials said the decision aims to protect nature and control environmental damage.
According to an official notification, the ban will apply throughout the coming tourist season. The Forest, Parks, and Wildlife Department issued the directive on Tuesday. Officials warned hotel owners against setting up accommodation facilities in the park.

Moreover, the government said commercial activity threatens the park’s fragile ecosystem. Officials stressed that Deosai’s natural beauty requires strict protection. Therefore, authorities promised legal action against anyone violating the new rules.
Deosai National Park lies between Skardu and Astore districts at a very high altitude. It attracts tourists for wildflowers, brown bears, and scenic landscapes. However, past incidents raised safety and environmental concerns.

Earlier this year, a bear injured a famous singer during a camping trip. As a result, officials banned camping activities as well. The Deosai National Park ban remains part of broader efforts to preserve this iconic destination.
