A shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, left two students dead and nine others injured as police launched a massive manhunt for the unidentified suspect. Authorities deployed over 400 personnel to secure the campus and surrounding areas.
The incident occurred in the Barus & Holley engineering building while students were taking exams. Police said the suspect, possibly a man in his 30s dressed in black, escaped after opening fire, and may have been wearing a mask.

Providence Deputy Police Chief Timothy O’Hara confirmed that shell casings were recovered from the scene. Officials plan to release surveillance footage of the suspect and are seeking tips from witnesses to help track him down.
Brown University remained in lockdown for several hours, with students sheltering in place under desks. University President Christina Paxson confirmed most victims were students and expressed condolences, while local authorities emphasized that security was heightened across Providence.

Governor Daniel McKee vowed that the shooter would be brought to justice, while the search faced challenges due to weekend crowds, holiday shoppers, and ongoing public events in the city. Federal agencies, including the FBI and ATF, joined local police efforts.
