Earlier this year, in October, another Pakistani naval ship seized narcotics worth over $972 million from sailing vessels in the same region. The operation involved the interception of two dhows within 48 hours, which were found carrying crystal methamphetamine and small quantities of cocaine.
The Combined Maritime Force (CMF), a partnership of 47 countries’ navies that patrols more than 3 million square miles, lauded the operation as one of the most successful narcotics seizures under its taskforce. Commodore Fahad Aljoiad of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, leading the CMF taskforce, commended the Pakistani Navy for its role in disrupting major drug smuggling networks.
