SNGPL announces revised winter gas schedule for Punjab and KP

Published on: December 8, 2025 10:51 AM

ISLAMABAD: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has issued a revised winter gas schedule for households in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, setting three daily supply windows from December through February. According to company officials, gas will be available from 5:30 am to 8:30 am, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, and 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, urging families to plan meals during these periods.

Officials emphasized that the industrial sector will not face gas load-shedding under the new plan, noting that despite increased winter demand, sufficient supply remains in the system. SNGPL also encouraged consumers to use gas responsibly, highlighting its cost and the need to prioritise household requirements.

The revised schedule comes amid proposals by SNGPL and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for significant tariff hikes in the 2025–26 fiscal year. SNGPL has requested an increase of Rs189 per MMBTU, targeting an average prescribed price of Rs1,955.50 per MMBTU, citing a financial requirement of over Rs52.95 billion. SSGC seeks a hike of Rs125.41 per MMBTU, proposing an average price of Rs1,658.56 per MMBTU.

The proposed revisions, if approved by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), could further strain households and industries already facing high energy costs. Hearings on the petitions are scheduled for November 7 for SNGPL and November 11 for SSGC, where the regulator will evaluate financial justifications before deciding.

The announcements follow Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent move to reopen gas connections nationwide, aimed at easing long-standing energy challenges. The Prime Minister noted that the previous administration faced difficulties in gas supply, while his government has strengthened infrastructure and initiated high-quality RLNG connections for the public.
