
Sri Lankan Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantharu Darigo lauded Pakistan’s urban search and rescue team for their professionalism during devastating floods, highlighting their vital role in timely relief operations across the country.
Darigo expressed gratitude to Pakistan for providing prompt assistance in challenging circumstances and praised the efficiency, coordination, and dedication of the rescue personnel sent to aid affected communities.

Following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority dispatched an elite 47-member Search and Rescue Team along with 6.5 tons of essential relief equipment via a C-130 aircraft.
In addition to the airlifted supplies, Pakistan sent 200 tons of relief materials to Sri Lanka via a naval ship, ensuring that affected areas receive immediate support for flood victims.
Darigo emphasized that Pakistan’s aid reflects its global responsibility and its commitment to helping friendly nations in times of disaster, reinforcing the long-standing bonds between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
