ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda on Wednesday issued a stern warning over political unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), hinting at the potential imposition of governor’s rule. In a post on X, the minister emphasized that all actions moving forward would strictly adhere to the Constitution and the law.

Vawda addressed concerns regarding family visits with detainees, stating that such meetings would now focus solely on wellbeing. He added that lawyers would only be permitted to meet detainees for case-related discussions, cautioning that conveying political messages during such visits would face restrictions.

Reaffirming support for the armed forces and their leadership, Vawda criticized derogatory remarks against the military and the Army Chief, describing efforts to destabilize institutions as “mental corruption.” He stressed that while cooperation would be met with goodwill, any intimidation would prompt a stronger response.

The senator also warned political groups allegedly involved in inciting unrest, noting that ongoing cases would now be pursued to their conclusion. He indicated that if the KP chief minister engaged in further misconduct, the remaining political space could be curtailed through governor’s rule. Vawda specifically cautioned individuals linked to the May 9 incidents, especially those believed to be hiding in KP, to prepare for consequences.

Concluding his statement, Vawda noted that those awaiting official notifications had already been informed to expect developments soon. His remarks underscore mounting political tensions in the province and signal a strict approach toward dissent and law enforcement in the coming weeks.
