Pakistani duo Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Muzammil Murtaza stormed into the men’s doubles final of ATP Challenger Cup 2025, for the first time in Pakistan’s tennis history here at PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.
As many as 25 international players from Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Australia, Italy, Bulgaria, Austria, Sweden, Georgia, Great Britain, and Switzerland, along with 10 top Pakistani players, are featuring in the mega event. This event marks a historic milestone, as it is being hosted in Pakistan for the very first time. Elias Ymer of Sweden, currently ranked 169 in the ATP World/PIF Rankings, is the tournament’s top seed, while Jay Clarke of Great Britain, ranked 213, is the second seed.
Meanwhile, in an unparalleled achievement for Pakistani tennis, the Pakistani doubles pair of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Muzammil Murtaza stormed into the final of ATP Challenger Cup.
This final also marks the last ATP Challenger Tour match of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi’s illustrious career, adding even more significance to the moment.
In the semifinal, the Pakistani duo delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Turkey’s Alp Horoz and Mart Alkaya with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-4, securing their place in the historic final. In Men’s Singles quarterfinals, Mert Alkaya (TUR) beat Elias Ymer (SWE) 7-6(8), 4-6, 6-0; Jay Clarke (GBR) beat Vadym Ursu (UKR) 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(6); Denis Yevseyev (KAZ) beat Johan Nikles (SUI) 4-6, 6-1, 6-3; Zach Stephens (GBR) beat Dominik Palan (CZE) 7-5, 6-3.
In men’s doubles semifinals, Muzammil Murtaza (PAK), Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (PAK) beat Mert Alkaya (TUR), Alp Horoz (TUR) 6-1, 6-4; Dominik Palan (CZE), Denis Yevseyev (KAZ) beat Nikita Bilozertsev (UKR), Preston Brown (USA) 6-1, 7-5.
