
The team behind Apne 2 has finally addressed the swirling rumours surrounding the film’s future after the recent passing of legendary actor Dharmendra. Producer Deepak Mukut clarified that the highly anticipated sequel is very much alive and progressing steadily, despite claims that the project had been shelved.

In an official statement, Mukut urged fans and media outlets to refrain from spreading baseless reports regarding the sequel’s cancellation. He asserted that the film continues to move forward with “full conviction” and remains one of the most emotionally significant ventures under their banner, as reported by Times Now.
“People need to stop spreading unverified rumours. Apne 2 is NOT shelved. This film is happening, and it is happening with full conviction,” he stated. Mukut added that the team had been “working quietly but consistently,” never once considering dropping the project.

The producer also highlighted the immense emotional weight the film carries, especially after Dharmendra’s passing on November 24. He emphasised that Apne 2 will now serve as a loving homage to the late veteran, whose presence and warmth defined the original film.
“Apne belonged to Dharamji. His presence, his warmth, his soul—everything he stood for—made that film what it became. Apne 2 is extremely close to my heart,” Mukut said. “In many ways, the film will be a shradhanjali, a heartfelt tribute to Dharamji.”

Released in 2007, the original Apne featured Dharmendra alongside his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, portraying a powerful story of family, redemption, and relationships.
