Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated a meal programme for special students on Thursday, highlighting the government’s efforts to support children with exceptional abilities across the province.
Speaking at the launch ceremony in Lahore, she praised special children as “our heroes” and credited Sania Ashiq and the Special Education Department for establishing Centres of Excellence in 28 districts.

Maryam Nawaz noted that Punjab now has 303 institutions dedicated to special education, all set for reconstruction, aiming to provide modern facilities and enhanced learning environments for differently-abled students.
She emphasized that parents of special children should not thank her, saying it is her duty as Chief Minister, while saluting the courage and dedication of families raising these children.
The Chief Minister announced that the school meal programme will cover the entire province and urged households to identify special children for enrolment in government institutions to ensure inclusive education.

Additionally, every school will receive CCTV-monitored buses, with 60 already delivered, and Himmat Cards are being issued to 70,000–75,000 differently-abled individuals, benefiting thousands of special children with financial and mobility support.
