Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s military leadership on Monday discussed strengthening “longstanding and strategic” cooperation, focusing on defence, security, and counter-terrorism. The meeting took place at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi between COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Saudi Armed Forces CGS General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al Rowaili, the ISPR said.
Both leaders emphasised enhancing defence collaboration and security coordination as pillars of the bilateral relationship. They discussed areas of mutual interest, including counter-terrorism initiatives and joint military exercises. The visiting Saudi general praised Pakistan’s cooperation across multiple fields and reaffirmed his commitment to furthering strong military ties.

Upon arrival at GHQ, General Al Rowaili laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and received a Guard of Honour from the Pakistan Army. The meeting follows a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement signed in September, pledging that any attack on one nation would be treated as aggression against both.
Earlier this month, Pakistan’s CGS Lieutenant General Aamer Raza met General Rowaili in Riyadh to further discuss expanding strategic cooperation and strengthening the mutual defence agreement. Both meetings reflect ongoing efforts to deepen the defence partnership.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a long history of strategic military cooperation, economic ties, and shared Islamic heritage. Riyadh has been a key source of financial aid, energy supplies, and support for Islamabad’s defence and economic initiatives.
