FCC announces winter vacations from Dec 22 to Jan 4

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Monday announced its winter vacation schedule, confirming that the court will remain closed from December 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Regular hearings will resume on January 5, 2026, after the two-week recess.

According to an official notification, while the court itself will be on holiday, its administrative offices will remain open throughout the vacation period. The FCC also clarified that hearings related to urgent matters and cases already fixed before the break will continue without interruption.

Established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Federal Constitutional Court was created to strengthen Pakistan’s judicial framework and safeguard constitutional rights. The institution plays a pivotal role in interpreting the Constitution and addressing legal disputes of a constitutional nature.

Currently, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan serves as the Chief Justice of the FCC. The bench also includes Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Amir Farooq, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice Karim Khan Agha, Justice Rozi Khan Brech, and Justice Arshad Hussain Shah. Collectively, the judges bring extensive judicial experience to the court’s constitutional mandate.

On the FCC’s official website, Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan has described the establishment of the court as a landmark in Pakistan’s constitutional evolution. He emphasized that the court is guided by principles of independence, fairness, and integrity, ensuring that fundamental rights are protected and constitutional balance is maintained among state institutions.

The announcement of the winter vacation comes as the FCC continues to hear significant petitions involving constitutional interpretation, federal authority, and fundamental rights. With administrative offices operational during the recess, legal processes requiring urgent attention will remain uninterrupted.
