LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has unveiled a special incentive package for franchises set to compete in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, marking a significant boost ahead of the league’s expansion. In an announcement made on his X account, Naqvi said the PCB would reward franchises for their contribution to the PSL’s continued growth and development.

Under the newly announced structure, the champion franchise of PSL 2026 will receive $500,000, while the runner-up will earn $300,000. Additionally, a separate $200,000 reward will be granted to the franchise recognized for outstanding efforts in cricket development. These bonuses are independent of the league’s traditional prize money awarded each season.
The PCB chairman encouraged teams and stakeholders to remain committed to elevating Pakistan cricket, saying, “Let’s take Pakistan cricket to new heights.” The announcement comes as anticipation grows over the league’s expansion, with the PCB confirming that the auction for two new PSL franchises will take place on January 6, 2026.

Dispelling recent media speculation, the PCB clarified that the names of the new teams have not been finalized. The final selection will occur only after the auction, in accordance with the official Bid Documents. While Faisalabad and Gilgit were widely rumored to be leading contenders, the board revealed that six cities are under consideration: Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit.
Only technically qualified bidders will be eligible to participate in the auction, and successful bidders will have the right to choose their preferred city or team name from the shortlisted options.
