Karachi sewerage cleanup received a major boost as the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) added 20 new suction and jetting vehicles. These “blue trucks” will help clear blocked sewer lines, especially during the rainy season. Previously, 122 trucks were in service, and the addition increases the total to 142, significantly improving sewer maintenance across the city.
KWSC Chairman and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said the city administration is focusing on major development initiatives. He highlighted the investment of Rs630 million to upgrade the sewerage system. The city is also establishing three modern service centers at Karsaz, Sakhi Hassan, and SITE Industrial Area / Haroonabad to support faster operations.

The mayor laid the foundation for KWSC’s first police station, aiming to tackle water theft efficiently. With dedicated staff and a special tribunal, the station will reduce delays caused by reliance on external police support. The Anti-Theft Cell can now act swiftly without outside assistance, ensuring strict action against water theft.
In addition, the city is promoting electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions. KWSC has set up an on-site charging station for employees. Mayor Wahab noted that similar initiatives in KMC proved successful, and public charging stations will expand citywide to support environmental goals.
