Published on: November 14, 2025 9:21 PM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi has announced the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan Peshawar, directing officials to gather all CCTV footage and evidence for a detailed report.

During a provincial cabinet meeting, the chief minister said the commission would present its findings to the cabinet, ensuring full transparency and accountability throughout the investigation. He emphasised that the incident required a fair, thorough, and fact-based probe.

Afridi also reiterated that establishing an interest-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains a top priority of the government. He added that policies were being developed to eliminate interest-based practices and introduce Islamic investment models across the province.

The chief minister expressed concern over the treatment of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in jail, stating that the assembly had unanimously passed a resolution on the issue. He said he had been denied permission to meet the PTI founder, despite being the elected leader of 45 million people.

Furthermore, Afridi stressed that all government reforms and initiatives would be undertaken only after consultation with elected representatives. He added that maintaining peace was a shared responsibility, and the provincial government would strictly follow a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

He directed cabinet members to ensure merit, transparency, and public interest in all decisions. Afridi also ordered a comprehensive review of existing laws, calling for amendments to fix loopholes and the removal of any legislation that goes against the welfare of the people.
