KARACHI: Sindh Rangers and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday arrested a suspected militant affiliated with the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a joint operation in Shershah. The suspect, identified as Muhammad Noor, alias Khum, is described by authorities as a “most-wanted criminal.”
A Rangers spokesperson said that arms, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from Noor’s custody during the raid. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to involvement in targeted killings, extortion, bomb blasts, kidnappings for ransom, and multiple encounters with police.

Authorities said Noor joined the TTP’s Qayum Mehsud group in 2010 and carried out terrorist activities in Karachi. Several FIRs had been registered against him at Manghopir and Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police stations. Following a crackdown by law enforcement in 2013, most of his accomplices were either arrested or killed, prompting Noor to flee to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to evade capture.
Noor has been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings. Law enforcement officials said the arrest is a significant development in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the city, aimed at eliminating militant networks operating in Karachi.
