BRATISLAVA – Two trains collided on Sunday evening in Slovakia after one ran into the back of the other, injuring dozens of passengers, officials reported. Slovakia’s Interior Minister, Matus Sutaj Estok, said that 11 people were taken to hospitals while most sustained minor injuries. No fatalities were reported.
The crash occurred on the route between the capital, Bratislava, and Pezinok, about 20 kilometers northeast of the city. Police confirmed that there was no head-on collision or derailment, with preliminary reports suggesting a rear-end impact. Passengers described the incident as a loud “bang” when the trains collided.
