
PESHAWAR – A key commander of the Islamic State–Khorasan (IS-K) group was killed during a late-night police operation in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources confirmed on Wednesday.
Acting on an intelligence tip-off, police launched a raid on a suspected militant hideout in Ambari village. A fierce gun battle followed, lasting nearly four hours, during which IS-K commander Nisar Hakim was killed. Four policemen sustained injuries in the exchange of fire.

According to security sources, Hakim was believed to be the mastermind behind a failed suicide attack targeting Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Karak district has long been under close observation by intelligence agencies for IS-K activities and recruitment operations, with the latest encounter marking a significant blow to the militant network’s regional presence.
