Four-day international maritime expo, conference opens in Karachi

The opening ceremony of second edition of Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference 2025 (PIMEC-25) was held at Expo Centre, Karachi. Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, H.E. Mr. Saleh Al Jasser was Guest of Honour and Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Upon arrival, the Guest of Honour and the Chief Guest were received by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted immense potential of Pakistan’s maritime sector in rejuvenating the national economy. He appreciated efforts of Pakistan Navy in promoting awareness among masses about the significance of Blue Economy and especially for organizing the Maritime Expo to showcase country’s maritime potential. The Chief Guest formally announced opening of PIMEC 25 and unveiled the commemorative postal stamp, followed by a tour of the expo.

The four-day event is being organized by Pakistan Navy under the patronage of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and will continue till 6 Nov 25. The active participation of delegations from 44 countries and 178 international and domestic exhibitors reflects the growing global interest in Pakistan’s maritime domain.

This mega event represents a landmark initiative aimed at enhancing maritime awareness among national stakeholders and the international community, while highlighting the vast untapped potential of Pakistan’s Blue Economy.

The event was attended by an impressive gathering of civil and military leadership, international delegations, and representatives from industry and business sectors.

Traffic plan announced during PIMEC-2025

The Karachi Tragic Police have announced traffic diversion plan for four day Pakistan Maritime International Expo & Conference (PIMEC-2025), inaugurated here on Monday (November 3). The event to be held from Nov 3 to 6 at Expo Centre located in Gulshan e Iqbal area of the Metropolis.

According to traffic plan, diversions, alternative routes and filter points for heavy traffic have been set up across key areas, including Karsaz, Millennium Mall, NIPA Chowrangi,New Town and Liaquatabad.

Heavy and commercial vehicles coming from Shahra-e- Faisal towards the National Stadium through Habib I Rahim Rehmatullah Road and Sir Shah Suleman Road will not be permitted. Citizens coming from Karsaz and Deigh Road,were advised to use Rashid Minhas Road via Millennium Mall and NIPA.

Heavy traffic from Rashid Minhas Road will not be allowed to use Dalmia Road towards the Stadium. Instead,traffic may be diverted via NIPA, Askri IV, or Drigh Road towards Shahra-e-Faisal while heavy traffic from NIPA Chowrangi to Hassan Square will not be permitted. Vehicles may instead take the NIPA- Gulshan Chowrangi- Sohrab Goth or NIPA- Rashid Minhas, Millennium Mall- Drigh Road routes. The heavy traffic from New Town and adjoining areas will be diverted towards Shaheed e Millat Road via Baloch bridge. The heavy traffic will not be allowed from Liaquatabad No.10 to Hassan Square via Sir Suleman Road and it has been advised to use Shahra-e-Pakistan via Karimabad towards Sohrab Goth.
