FM Dar to push for Gaza peace at Istanbul meeting

Published on: November 2, 2025 8:17 PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Istanbul on Monday to attend the Coordination Meeting of Arab-Islamic Foreign Ministers. The gathering, hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, will focus on implementing the Gaza Peace Agreement and consolidating the fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. The high-level meeting aims to coordinate regional and international efforts for long-term peace, stability, and reconstruction in the war-torn Palestinian enclave.

Pakistan, which has remained actively engaged in the Arab-Islamic peace initiative that led to the Gaza Peace Agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh, will play a vital role in the Istanbul discussions. The Foreign Office stated that Islamabad will emphasize the full implementation of the truce and demand Israel’s complete withdrawal from all occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza. It will also stress the need for sustained diplomatic pressure to ensure compliance with the ceasefire terms.

Moreover, Pakistan will call for the immediate delivery of unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza and highlight the urgency of rebuilding its devastated infrastructure. Foreign Minister Dar will urge the participating states to develop a coordinated plan for reconstruction, rehabilitation, and the safe return of displaced Palestinians. He will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to supporting regional initiatives that promote peace, justice, and human dignity for the Palestinian people.

In addition, Islamabad will reiterate its long-standing support for the creation of an independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. The proposal aligns with the pre-1967 borders and relevant United Nations resolutions, as well as the Arab Peace Initiative. Pakistan’s delegation will advocate for renewed global engagement and sustained financial assistance to ensure a durable and just resolution to the Palestinian crisis.

The Istanbul meeting comes weeks after the Gaza Peace Agreement was signed on October 9, under a US-brokered initiative to end over two years of conflict. The agreement included the release of captives, prisoner exchanges, and the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Pakistan, alongside Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, and Turkiye, continues to play an active role in securing a lasting peace that ensures justice, security, and dignity for the Palestinian people.
