Saudi Arabia reduces Umrah visa entry to one month

Published on: October 31, 2025 5:47 PM

Saudi Arabia has announced a major change to its Umrah visa policy. Under the new rules, pilgrims must enter the country within one month of visa issuance. Previously, they had three months to travel. The government aims to streamline visa procedures and better manage the flow of pilgrims, especially during busy seasons. This change highlights the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to improve the overall pilgrimage experience for visitors.

The updated policy also includes strict consequences for late arrivals. If pilgrims do not enter within the one-month window, their visa will be automatically canceled. Authorities believe this measure will reduce scheduling confusion and improve coordination at airports and holy sites. In addition, officials are working to ensure all travel agencies and pilgrims are informed of the new rules. This step demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to smooth and organized pilgrimage management.

Despite the shorter entry period, the allowed duration of stay remains unchanged. Pilgrims can stay in Saudi Arabia for up to three months after entering. This ensures they have enough time to perform Umrah and visit Makkah and Madinah comfortably. Travel experts note that the adjustment mainly affects the planning timeline rather than the overall pilgrimage experience. Consequently, pilgrims need to act quickly once their visa is issued.

The exact implementation date is still pending official confirmation. Sources suggest the policy could start next week. Meanwhile, travel agencies are preparing guidance for pilgrims on how to comply with the new timeline. Authorities have emphasized the importance of timely entry and warned travelers to plan their trips carefully. This proactive approach aims to prevent visa cancellations and avoid travel disruptions.

Saudi Arabia’s revised Umrah visa policy is part of broader reforms. The government continues to focus on improving pilgrim safety, convenience, and operational efficiency. By shortening the entry window, officials hope to enhance coordination and reduce crowding at holy sites. Pilgrims and agencies are encouraged to stay updated for official announcements. Overall, the move reflects the Kingdom’s determination to modernize and regulate Umrah travel.
