National Disaster Management Authority Member Operations Brigadier Kamran Ahmed visited Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh Headquarters in Karachi. On this occasion, he was welcomed by Director General PDMA Syed Salman Shah. The visit provided insights into strengthening coordination between the NDMA and the PDMA with regard to disaster management in Sindh.
DG PDMA Syed Salman Shah conducted the briefing on the recent steps taken by the Authority for early warning, EWS development, response strategies, coordination with DDMA. Moreover, initiatives with different development organizations focusing on developing community resilience and disaster risk reduction were shared with Brigadier Kamran Ahmed.
Brigadier Kamran Ahmed also visited the Provincial Emergency Operation Center. He acquainted himself with the monitoring systems available at the center and their real-time communication capabilities. The brigadier praised the geographical mission for modernizing the hub, making it the hub of the response efforts.
He appreciated PDMA Sindh’s progress and commended the team’s dedication to improving disaster preparedness at the grassroots level. He lauded PDMA’s adoption of modern technology to strengthen emergency systems and emphasized that enhanced synergy between NDMA and PDMA will further improve disaster response capabilities across the province.
The visit concluded with DG PDMA Syed Salman Shah presenting a shield to Brigadier Kamran Ahmed in recognition of his visit and continued support to PDMA Sindh. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to work closely in strengthening disaster management frameworks and ensuring a safer, more resilient Sindh.
